There are no errors reported in the log and the saves load fine (i.e. with interface) on my machine - this obviously makes tracking down the problem a tad more difficult At the moment I have to admit I am at a loss. What bothers me about your logs is that they do not even contain the error messages that come with a trouble-free install. Are you sure the civilizationIV.ini did not reset itself again? if that happened you might want to change it again and set it to read only (right click and then properties) since for some reasons some civ4 installs seem to randomly reset the .ini. Did you just reload the save or did you restart the game and restart the mod from within the game?
I fear unless you want to try a reinstall I have no ideas on how to tackle this. If you want to uninstall and reinstall you should make sure that after you uninstall and prior to reinstalling you manually delete the folders ...\My Games\Beyond the Sword and ...\Application Data\My Games\Beyond the Sword if they are still there after the uninstall (some times they are some times not).
Also you are the third person to come across a missing interface, while the underlying errors where different there seems to be some sort of bug with the mod - I am not one to accept three coincidences that specific without suspecting a code bug.
@WarHound42: Re sharing a game file: while it is trivial and as a text file easy to copy I am loath to sharing any part of the game, quite apart from the fact that it probably violates the license agreement and by that also forum rules here I would suspect a corrupted install if any such file is really missing (I still suspect it is there but read protected and hidden for some reason - make sure you look into your main Beyond the Sword directory and have hidden files visible).

Ok, I'll try a complete uninstall and reinstall over the weekend and then try making the ini. read only. I'll let you know how I get on on Monday.

Ok I completely uninstalled my BTS. I then reinstalled it and added only the 3.13 patch.

Now I have two accounts on my PC, an administrator one and a limited one. I normally use the limited one for everything.

So if I play the mod on my limited profile I get the same error. However, if I play the mod on my administrator account it works fine. I tried copying everything from my administrator/my games/BTS folder on to my other account and still no joy.

I suspect that maybe the Mod needs to be able to have read / write access to something on my computer.

Only curious thing is that before I did the uninstall / reinstall I had the same error on my administrator account as well.

I am new to this, but after a lot of wild goose chases, I right-clicked on the icon and selected 'Run as Administrator'. Obviously, I am using Windows Vista. That worked like a charm. I am guessing if you are using XP, you need to be running the program from an administrator account.

yeah, that´s definitely the solution ...

i was having the same problem as well (no interface) and tried many different things ... i first thought it was a problem of pathways (i´m using the Civilization complete pack that install the game in another location) full patched and everything but no... it´s about the permissions of modyfing some files ... so i guess this problem can pop up often with people using windows vista... but as Eleos says, just right click on the civ BTS icon and select run as administrator and works fine

I am also not getting an interface when I tried the scenario for the first time.

Wierd as soon as I posted the last few posts showed up. Runnng as administrator worked for me.
