How is FFH Lore created, and how does everybody know so darn much of it? Beyond just the sheer fun of the mod, I've been impressed since the project's very beginning with the depth of the backstory. In fact, it was way deeper than could ever be adequately portrayed in the medium of an open-ended strategy game. (Hence the scenarios! Can't wait!)

But what I've recently noticed is that not only does Kael have thorough knowledge of the universe that he's created, but all sorts of other people do, too! In my opinion that's pretty darn special. You expect to run into people on the Internet who can quote Tolkien, or heck maybe even geek out on Warcraft mythology, but Kael's D&D universe?? I can't say I've ever encountered another user-created mod that has had this effect on its players.

I know certain members like Nikis Night have been involved in writing stories and civilopedia entries, but how does everyone else know so damn much? You can't get far into a thread requesting some change to the mod before someone comes along and shoots it down as against the lore. Are these folks just avid readers of the civilopedia, or are there stealth members of Kael's original D&D group among us now, possessed with more knowledge of Kael's universe through personal experience with it?

Anyhoo, keep it up! Love reading this stuff on the forums.

Kael answers those questions sometimes and always has been. Whenever it happens, someone, usually MagisterCultuum, is there to fully memorize the answer, and give it out whenever the question gets re-asked.

Yep, Monkey is spot on. Asking a DM a question about their universe/campaign is just asking for paragraphs of answers, which I love. Some of the more avid members of the forum have just read everything several times, and it is such a rich story that it is not hard to memorize (okay, maybe to the degree MC has it is...).

I really hope that, eventually, Kael will release his concepts for a DnD world based on FFH (and not based on his old DnD game, as much has changed). That would make me very happy. :mischief:

I think the closest to an old tabletop player's connection of FfH is that Orthus was based on a PC, the player of which was amused to hear that the big green meanie was still around somewhere.

I just love reading lore about anything, but especially well-written lore like FFH. If I ever get the chance to DM a game of D&D, I want to base it in Erebus ;)

Yea... when Ffh2 gets done, can we get like a PDF detailing the Erebus universe

i think PDF is slightly more realistic, but you could set it up as a print book in PDF

Lol I've had player characters like Orthus in my games sometimes, grr.

Looks just too good to be true. Or then I'm just cynical...nothing new really.

Kael usually makes it up himself or asks people to write Civilopedia entries. People then pile in entries and stories and Kael picks out the ones he likes best and builds his own lore around then. Then Magister reads it about 100 times and can type it back to you word for word. And that is how lore is created.

It might have taken 3 years to get FfH 2 to where it is now, but it has taken nearly or maybe over 20 years to get the FfH Lore to where it is now.

i think there needs to be more in the 'pedia. maybe a whole "Lore" section!
