A site 'bug', but didn't seem to fit in either the 0.33c bug thread or cosmetic issue thread because it's not about the mod.

The issue is that a new user like myself has a hard time finding the latest 0.33 patch. All links I've found from civfanatics and even within the FfH hosted home page there point to the Patch B topic.

Some examples:
Start off at http://www.civfanatics.com/
Under "Civilization IV" on the left panel, click "Downloads" to arrive at:
http://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/downloads
You see "Fall from Heaven II" and cheer yourself, then click it. It goes to:
http://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/downloads/ffh2
That page references text to links to download FfH v0.32, and the v0.31 bug thread. If you do click the 0.32 link you go to a 0.33 version topic (good) but it's an older one and has Patch b, not patch c (and lacks the media pack). It's this page:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1
The link there to the FfH home page is 404 missing, because it points to:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/ffh

But if you come at FfH from an entirely different way, and somehow end up at the new(er) subdomain for FfH at http://kael.civfanatics.net/ , you still end up at the outdated patch b page if you go the "Downloads" page there. Same if you click Most Popular Downloads link from civfanatics, they all take you to:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1
btw, you can't seem to get to the newer subdomain from any links inside civfanatics that I can find. I find it from google searching and then added it to bookmarks.

Just wanted to let folks know that for newer folks it's not quite as easy as it could be to find the up-to-date mod. That's a shame, because this mod - really a total conversion - makes civ iv into a new game, and the more people using the more bug reports and feedback you get to improve it.

I didnt know that existed. Im sure people were trying to help us out but just as you mentioned copying info out to multiple places just creates a bunch of obsolete information. It should only be a marquee and a link to the real info (which we keep updated).

Thanks for the heads up, I'll get it cleaned up.

Kael, could you post a link to the C patch changelog? I can't seem to find it. Also, if I install C will it break my A game?

Thanks!

Its in the first post of the bug thread. And yes it will break save games.

This is a bit off topic, but I'm getting pretty annoyed. The installer claims to have the 3.17 patch installed, but when I open the game and check the version, it says 3.13. The culture for buildings isn't showing up either (just in case someone asks if it installed but isn't showing properly). I checked to see if my computer had made a random copy of Beyond the Sword in a random place, but I checked very thouroughly and nothing.

Thx for any help.

Id uninstall and then reinstall beyond the sword. You could probably get away with a registry hack to delete the key that holds the patch verison, but unless your really comfortable messing with registry the uninstall reinstall is the best option.

Gutentag: I can't address the issue with building culture, but I did want to mention that I'd gotten confused the other day when looking at version info. The About dialog has a Civ version and build version line entry, and one says 317 while the other says 3.1.3.1. At first glance, I thought that the build version number indicated version 3.13 was installed. Thought I'd mention this on the off-chance you'd looked at the wrong entry as I did.

Hi Kael, I just got patch 'd' and noted the removal of the duplicative .ini entry. Thanks for addressing that so quickly, along with the other (substantially) more important fixes/updates.
