FfH2 0.21 Bug Thread

i fixed the ashen veil technology glitch, and is it just me or is the AI now more adamant about researching the AV?

In three games I've played, the computer has founded AV by year 150, where it usually took to around early 200 for them to find it.

It is pretty adamant about it, but not until an evil civ get Philosophy, and even then AV needs Way of the Wicked and Knowledge of the Ether which will put it later than every religion except Order.

However, there's one case where I've seen that. I've been starting Classical games (where every civ starts with the first few columns of tech) and every single good or evil civ is researching toward AV or Order at the start of the game. Which is a problem for Auric btw.

I've made these fixes and also changed it so that the AI will force rush research the second religious tech for whatever its state religion is.

The file belongs in <civ4>/mods/Fall from Heaven 2 02/python/entrypoints

Thanks a lot for that, Saien.

i just applied patch 'c' and now most of my leaderheads and many screen graphics(like the 'advanced' controls and the civilopedia icons etc) are just pink background. i'm downloading the main files again and i'll reinstall and repatch, is there anything i am missing in the install or afterward? i am addicted to this mod, so i hope i can get it fixed and get my fix! :crazyeye:

Ok the bug is from civ4, but maybe there is a way to make "vs. Specific situations" promotions apply only as bonus and not as penalty
It doesn't really matter whether a particular modifier is applied as a bonus on one side or a penalty on the other - the overall effect on the ratio of strengths between the two is the same regardless, and that is what is used to determine the odds that we see and who actually wins each round of combat. :)

Except it's not

If you take a hill geant with combat 1 against a hunter in one case you have 6*1.2 vs 3*1.75 (7.2/5.25) = 79.5% and in the other case you have 3*1 vs 6/(1.75-.2) (3/3.87) = 23.3% for the scout or 76.7% for the hill geant.
And if you take higher base strength the difference will increase

As Vorshlumpf said, if you want details read Combat Explained (especially Bonus Peculiarities)

I believe this is new bug that hasn't been mentioned, although I haven't read through everything. I attacked Acheron with Hyborem, both of them died, and I didn't get the dragon's hoard (which highly disappointed me - I may even go in and add it in WB). Anyway, from the combat log, it appears that even after Hyborem was reduced to 0 strength, he kept fighting Acheron, then killed Acheron, and was recreated in my capital. I have a save game if anyone's interested.

Sabathiel whined to me about making entropy nodes, but then builds one himself... Am I the only one seeing hypocrisy here? I don't think this is something the 'good' Civ's should be able to do

Sabathiel is supposed to have a weight value of -40 on entropy nodes according to the XML file so either the weighting is not working right or he just got lucky. On a related note though, nothing seems to stop anyone from wanting to build the Soul Forge for that death mana, even if the leader hates death mana and has a - weight on death mana nodes. A bit of an oversight there I believe.

I was under the impression that the civ engine made the necessary adjustments. Also, I used to know, but I have forgotten. How do you view the combat log again (or the log in general)?

Are you aware that the dragon horde spawns when Acheron's city is razed? Otherwise, it's a wonder in the city itself.

CTRL-TAB shows you the log.

mmm, sorry, my bad. I had read that post before - it doesn't seem entirely intuitive though. I had thought a 40% bonus could be applied as multiplying the attacker by 1.4 or dividing the defender by 1.4, and for programming reasons they'd chosen the latter.

Kael, or the team, any news about the next patch (ashen veil technology bug with evil civ, possible new bugs with patch c, .....) ?

This is a minor bug but when I build a Altar of Luonnotar, I get a message in the upper left hand corner that states an enemy civ is about to complete one of the Altars.

You DEFINITELY only installed the most recent patch file. I did the same thing too and I'm sure you won't be the last :P

I dled and installed the patch "c" but, the readme still says I am running patch "b" seeing as how I never downloaded patch"b" only "c" is this just something that was overlooked or did I do something wrong.

It was something that was overlooked.

If everything is still pink, try setting your graphics to low.

Are AI workers supposed to be able to build nodes? I hit Rites of Oghma in my last game, and noticed several AI workers with the build node order.
