FfH2 0.21 Bug Thread

I agree with V. If the worker can see the enemy and it is in range -- and it can enter your borders (I'm looking at you, hill giants!) --then the worker should stop and await your orders. If the mounted unit is out of sight, then it is an intended vulnerability, though otherwise it's an oversight carried over from vanilla.

Are you so certain that you want a Hippus raider (by Tasunke) at the edge of your empire to be able to stop every worker within a 15 tile radius of it!?! That raider would have to be really lucky to spot a worker from 15 tiles away but you want that worker to stop anyway? Anyway I can't imagine that the computer checking every visible hostile unit to see if it is in range of a worker would be good for performance.

er, um, good point. No, I'm not certain. (Except about the no interuption from animal class units bit.) Though with the prevalence of mobility promotion/haste spells, I think bumping it up to 2 or 3 spaces away would be reasonably spliting the difference.

Now that sounds like a workable idea. Just get some pikemen to block those mounted troops and let the workers react when an assassin gets too close. We can't, however, forget to make sure that only visible tiles get counted otherwise we may be seeing some people building workers to create an early warning system or a meteor targetting grid.

Is there a problem with the probability of generation of Great Commanders? I've noticed a tendency for them to get generated at quite low odds in many of my games, but it could just be coincidence or poor GP management on my part.

I have to second this finding as well, though I can't prove anything.
Though I don't mind since there is lack of great commander point generators, maybe this is an undocumented feature?

It kinda sucks when you're trying to get engineers. The problem is that national epic adds Great Commander points and pollutes the best GP city.

Archeron appeared three times (in the same babarian city) in the patch 'b' game I just started.

Though good news is that none of three seem to be moving out of the city:goodjob: . (it was right next to my capital).

i just got two of him, no dragons horde, and both moved into different squares outside the city!

Got an OOS (de-sync?) error while playing a team game and switching to the Infernals. The error was blinking on and off, kind of strange. My team mate reconnected and everything seemed ok.

I then noticed that I could not see any of my text in the diplomacy screen or in-game. He could still see the text and I could still see his.

I saved the game and left it to restart. When we attempted to reload I was unable to select the Infernals. I had destroyed my original Civ before I saved the game so we were unable to continue.

We both were using ver 0.21b

That dragon is causing me no end of trouble.

It would be nice if when a spirit guide dies if workers couldn't be chosen as a target for the experience. Not sure if summoned units or other units that can't gain experience can be targetted.

Best way to fix that would be to have it apply to living targets only.

Kael, yeah they are troublesome creatures, best to give them a good whipping from time to time!

In the 3 archeron game I don't think the dragon's horde spawned either, but in a new game only one archeron and his horde spawned as normal.

The game with 3 dragons was a team game with the AI, not sure if that is relevant.

Started this game with .21a, so I don't know exactly what you changed in b, but in my current game I was able to found OO, figure out there was no Ljosalfar, found Fellowship (but not switch), give FoL to a couple neighbors, research Trade, give or sell FoL tech to the neighbors, wait for them to build some AoL, start war and get some elvish slaves. Yet, no other religion has been founded. I eventually founded RoK because hey, free mana!

The Luchuirp exist, but the Khazad do not. Bannor exists, but no Order. Sheaim exists, but no AV. This is on Monarch, and I got Mysticism from a hut.

Also, is not being able to build lumbermills in Ancient Forest from captured cities intentional?

You cant build lumber mills on ancient forest. That is their draw back. Tey are better at the beggining but have to be cut down and replanted again.

i frequently get the following error when i try to save. it happens maybe 50% of the time. this is both auto-saves as well as manual saves. if i happen to save every turn (ugh), it seems to be better, but not that much.

"FATAL_ERROR
Memory allocation failure - exiting program.
Reason:bad allocation."

when i click "OK," the program terminates. the resulting save game file is about 2 KB.

task manager reports that civIV is using about 920 MB (out of 2 GB physical memory on the machine), and that about 1.22 gb total is in use (from web browser, email client, itunes, etc.).

the disk is not full, and windows event viewer shows no disk errors (or other errors, for that matter).

i'm at v. 2.020 patch h (i was mid game when i saw the most recent version and too many things changed for me to up-version. i'm also using some of the removed wonders :) ). was this addressed in the most recent patch?

i did turn python errors on in the civ ini file, but the above message is the only one that shows up (same as before turning that on).

edit: i spel gud!

edit2: i should note that i've never had this happen before with civIV or with the few other mods i've played. this is my third FfH game. this happened maybe once or twice in the first game and a few times in the second game. i've also done all the malware scans i can find, just in case (nothign there).

EDIT --- Nevermind, I'm ********.

I just had a weird error, was playing as Sheaim. Killed a barbarian with a diseased corpse and went to get him to heal and got the following error...

Save is available upon request as well.

Using 0.21b btw
