FfHII Graphics question

Hallo,

Sorry if this has been answered before, but why is it that certain monsters and units blink a lot on screen? Thinking about ghosts and Auric Ascended among others. Is there a way to make them stop blinking? Has it to do with my computer? It is a laptop with no graphics card, uses virtual graphics or some such.

Also, many units are only parially showed with their new looks, the other time shown by their modified unit. Thinking about the gorilla, often beeing shown as a viking, and the skeleton, often shown as a swordsman, and many others like that. Why is this happening? Can it be fixed?

Fall from heaven II is the best mod to Civ4!
Thanks for a great game!

Do you have No Animations or whatever the option is called enabled? If so, you will have to turn it off for the units to display properly.

Sounds like you have an integrated graphics card. Having a "real" graphics card would be having a dedicated graphics card. My ol' integrated graphics card couldn't run Civ4... Luckily, I got a new, dedicated graphics card.

Turning off "Animations Frozen" should fix the problem of units reverting to "normal civ" graphics. It may cause slowdowns though, if your graphics card struggles to keep the units animated. The flashing spectre is a sign of an inferior graphics card. I've seen the same effect when playing on a laptop. Disabling "Animations Frozen" won't fix it, nor will any of the other options afaik. Unfortunately most laptops don't have the option to upgrade the graphics card, and just buying a new laptop won't necessarily fix the problem either. Laptop graphics cards are often lobotomized versions of desktop cards, to save space and power consumption - and the result is poorer performance. You could try looking for a "gaming laptop", which might sacrifice battery life to give better video performance.
