I voted for sit on the sidelines; but there was no real good answer for me.

|I sit on the sidelines and defend myself if necessary but generally try to avoid wars.
Police action is my calling. I only fight bad civs and try to protect good ones.
I'm a scrapper. I fight any and all around me and don't care who is good or bad.
I'm evil. I pick on weak civs and love to join dogpiles. |

All of these apply to me at some point. Usually, in the same game.

That's me. In the early game, I play the scientist/cultural/builder game, yielding to everyone asking me gold, maps, techs... But I write their names down on a little pink slip.
When I get, say, cavalry, I go back to the bullies, and it usually goes :
"Remember me ? You extorted me 200 golds 2,500 years ago. Now watch me destroy you."
MuhahahHAHAHAHAHA ! It feels sooo good. Especially with all those early warmongering civ, yes that's you, Mr. Aztec and Mr. Zulu. So you had Impis ? Now I've Sipahis. Oh, you're still stuck with impis ? No problem, would you ben so kind as to run criss-cross so it's more fun to shoot you down ?

Usually, I go by this:

Ancient: Expand, minimal military, wimpy
Middle Ages: Build up empire and strengthing, still try to avoid conflict
Industrial: Use MPP to quickly crush civ by civ
Modern: Game is done by now

Im pure evil. but no do not think i am a fool.
I am not.
I attack from the beginning and take one city.( taking cities very early in the game can crumble an entire civ )
then i DEMAND after cities.
nonononono no war my friend. i DEMAND them to give it to me.
and they do.
Why?
Becuase they fear me and obey me.
once i find they are not needed anymore and sucked away all their resources ,humans and gold i destroy them.
They don't have any usefullness anymore so why let them live?
and i love manipulating others to go to war.
When the troops have went to their neighbours to destroy out,my army comes slowly but powerfull. (No ROP rape i am not a fool or a coward)
I Destroy them.
Why?
Becuase i desire for the "zero world" a world where no lives exists without my permission.
So Do you think i am evil or just a fool?

Personally, I go right up to the top dog on the block and punch him right in the nose. Keeps him humble

Plus it weakens him allowing me to get ahead a little bit. If I need help, I bring in alliances to help out. If the AI brings alliances to bear against me, I have the advantage as I am already on a war footing by the time I get attacked.
