File alterations

Hello,
I am trying to alter an -- xml -- file and was wondering how to do this. I tried
Notepad but it would not let me save.

The file I am trying to alter is GlobalDefinesAlt.xml

This can be either a permission problem, or windows fooling you with its "Hide extensions of known filetypes" option.

It is not recommended editing the default files.
You should either create a mod or use the CustomAssets for that IIRC.
