File Changing problem

Well long story short, I had a file that was file.mds, someone told me to change it to file.BIN... so i did, but now he said nvm and to change it back so i change it back to file.mds, i change it but it still says its a .bin file, anyways to change it back?

perhaps your windows explorer is not set to show extensions for all files, thus you are not changing it because it is not shown... go to folder options and check it out.

Eh, what? If you're renaming a file you're either using Windows Explorer or DOS.
