Finally, there is a window mode. That's the only reason I hated Civ3. Now I can multitask better. But I can't scroll with the mouse for some reason.

You do need your mouse right at the edge of the window.

Check your ini file. There should be an option which allows scrolling in windowed mode. It's set to 0 on default, you have to set it to 1.

KEWL.

I tried the Windowed Mode, but went back to the Original mode because I missed the Scrolling. I'll try the Windowed Mode again with the .ini file change.

That's right. I forgot that step as I did it so long ago.

...\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4

There's a shortcut that goes to the .ini file.

Otherwise there's
...\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4

When you open the ini file, just go to the find option and then search window and it should take you to the line.

Is the windows mode made available with the latest patch?

only its not in my ini file...even done a find...nothing.

Strange, I don't have a "windowed mode" option either in my config file. Can anyone post the exact wording to enable this?

Also, post the wording for the scrolling also as I don't have that either. Thanks.

OK, Found it from a post by weakciv:

"in the Civilization.ini file there is a line set to 1 (i believe it says FullScreen = 1) set this to 0 or "ask".

For some reason, after installing the patch now it seems to always reset the value in the INI file to whatever I just put -- i.e., I change the value in the fullscreen/windowed mode line to "ask," but it only asks once. After that, the value in the INI file is whatever I'd selected before. (So if I say "no," to fullscreen mode, it changes the value to zero and always runs windowed mode.)

This worked fine before the patch. Anybody else having this issue?

EDIT: Just found other posts that indicate that yes, 1.09 seems to have broken this. Let's hope they fix it in the next patch.
