Finite Resources?

No info yet (i believe). I imagine that it hasn't changed.

I really, truly hope you're wrong, Meleager-but given the lack of info thus far, I fear that you are right :(.

We don't know but
1. there are more resources,
2. the maps seem to be smaller (but still have the same amount of civs?)
leads me to the fought that the map would be too cluttered if there have to be several units of each resource for each civ.

And I assume that they first try to do the other parts of the game, and leaving this part of resources the same in order not to complicate trade... But that's just what I suppose... :)

Well, I know its drawing a long bow, but if you look at some of the screenshots that have been posted, you will see variable numbers of animals (pigs, beavers, cows and horses) making up each resource (i.e. in one picture there are 3 horses, in another there are 4 horses). In a video, you see a fur resource made up of 2 beavers.
So, it got me thinking, maybe this is a visual representation of different-sized resources?? Like I said, I'm probably wrong, but it does give some cause for hope.

Good eye. This could also be depleting of a resource? This would be sort of consistent with the elimination of HP's for combat units.

It seems that resources like pigs and horces wouldnt run out. It isnt like there is a shortage of horses in civilized nations.

They're also not tied to a single location the way they (apparently) are in Civ4. I suspect that the logistics of true animal husbandry and domestication were deemed too complex. Maybe for Civ5. Instead of having a fixed Horses resource, you'd just need to get a decent population from the wild, at which point you would have a self-sustaining population. Then there's use of draft animals... It would be nice to incorporate a need for oxen or donkeys or some similar animals in order to accomplish substantial projects in pre-Industrial times. Or, perhaps you could accomplish the same things in much less time. You'd have three levels of worker productivity, then. There's unassisted manual labor (haha), man and animal (Animal Husbandry/Domestication), and there's man and machine (Replaceable Parts or Steam Engine or Combustion). Ideally, your ability to take advantage of the latter two would be dependent on access to the draft animals and rubber or coal or oil.
