i know that you firaxis guys are watching...
i know it because whenever you get great compliments we can see you all over the forum, and when people start to realise we are "screwed" you vanish (see the 1.29 post, they were there until all the mess with the diplomacy setting in scenarios, and then the earth swallowed them...)
now listen
we all want the patch, we all wanted it since june, and we cant wait...
but...
we can wait in case you made a mistake, unintentional one, about the diplomacy thing in scenarios, meaning that if we play a ww2 scenario, it wont be a ww, since you cant determine who is at war with who...(its a bloody joke, people with imagination like me can realise that, others who scream "thanks firaxis will sadly realise it the minute they play their first scenario)
so i think that even the biggest fanatics will agree that if this was done by mistake, we can take a few more days, so work on it, it wont take long, its just another option to add, but sadly its an option that is cruical for historic scenarios, actually, for all of them.
and if it was done on purpose so that people buy PTW, well, it will probably work, because sadly we are suckers, and i think you know that.

I agree that if it's not included then it should be.

However, it's not as simple as "a few days" to add in. It will take time to determine exactly what needs to be done. Then they have to figure out how to store it in the .BIC. Then there's playtesting, making sure there's no bugs. Unfortunately, it's a very long process to add things in.

Fortunately though, they haven't yet announced whether or not diplomacy is in, so I'm still fairly confident that it will be included.

I hope they have the diplomacy thing in the patch, but I think they would have responded to us telling us that it was included if they had it in the patch. Maybe they didn't originally plan to have it in the patch but maybe they had it in the works and are pushing to get it done for us. I can also wait for the patch until they get the diplomacy thing in it. Hopfully it will not be that hard for them to add.

I would pay a few dollars for the patch if it included Diplomacy settings.

While we are on the subject, please do something about the auto-shift worker from a polluted tile to specialist. For example, my citizen is working on a glassland tile for food. When pollution popup on that glassland title, the game would automatically shift that worker to work on a different tile. If all the tiles are being used, the game will turn that citizen into a specialist automatically. Of course, since I have more than enough worker to clean up all pollutions within the same turn (and all of my city size is max out), I have to track down these cities and reassign worker and specialist to the way it was. How about an option to turn off these auto-shift feature?

Another solution would be to implement a hot key to cycle through each pollution spot so that we can do something about them.

trying to force 30 people to create a diplo setting in the editor is not as easy as you might think. especially if those people themselves have deadlines of their own. (2 days deadline to finish the patch that is.)

and it's only been 2 months. you should instead applaud them for the tremendous focus they've put into developing this game.

Well done Firaxians!

the only thing that worries me is that this is the "final patch". meaning, no diplomacy now, no diplomacy EVER.

Even if diplomacy isn't included (which I still highly doubt), I'm sure it will be added in PtW. That's not good for those who didn't plan on buying it, but I was going to anyways, so it's no big deal for me. :)

I certainly understand why many want this for their building of scenarios.

But then, there are many who like playing the game straightup, and look forward to what's indicated to be in the patch.

I would much prefer that it be released now for all that it contains over waiting for one thing that it _might_ not have.

they mentioned the add/delete buttons, the city/unit/civ properties, and all the OTHER things basic to scenario production expect diplomacy. I doubt its in.

If it is, they're just trying to piss us off... ;)

Btw - I'd be more than happy to wait several weeks for diplomacy. Better yet, release 1.29, and then make a tiny ptach that adds diplomacy-editing to the editor.

They mentioned you can add cities. Nothing about editing them, naming them, adding improvements, size or culture... But that's in, we have a screenshot to prove it. Personally, I think that the readme isn't very reliable for some things. However, if it included every last thing that you could do, it would be pages up on pages upon pages long, and take forever to write up/edit. Another thing excluded is AI improvements... not one mentioning of anything, but Soren confirmed that they don't include that stuff in the readme either (for whatever reason).

who said this was going to be the final patch?

I think firaxis have made a mistake not including it - a very grave one. People will not see the good things because they are in the main useless without diplomacy. This will be a very bad hit to the reputation of firaxis despite the fact they have done well.
I also urge you to delay the patch Firaxis I think civvers will understand even if its delayed for a while. They will not understand if they never get to build scenarios

Looks like I was wrong. :(
Sorry guys, I really wish I had been right. Unfortunately, it's not a scenario editor, but just an expanded map editor...
