Hi,

Ok I want such a game. :D Being disapointed on how my Elven game ended (basically Hyborem got cornered and mauled by the good nations while I was fending some evil empires on the other side of the map), I would like to be sure that I get the game I want next time: rampaging hell and the need to act to the best of my abilities as a player, against the great evil!

First, a little modding....

Ok, back to the point of the thread. I want to be sure that the Infernals can potentially reach everyone... So am I stuck with Pangaea or not? Can the Infernals build ships (sound a bit silly but hey who knows...) and have you see 'infernals landing' in your games? Or do they have other means, like units moving over waters or floating?

What is your experience on that? I would prefer several continents, but if the Infernals don't cope with that...

I think that they can build boats, and Hell terrain does spread under water. If anything I think continents may be better for the infernal because they they only have to kill whoever's on their continent and can't have the whole world gang up on them initially.

Be sure you chose your opponents from the evil pool. I would recommend 'great lakes' map type, there your world is round and there is plenty of room for every one at the start.

Personally I never seen Hyborem build any ships and I saw him on an archipelago map, no ships for Basium either.

in general the AI is lousy with ships. Even on monarch I rarely get any kind of serious naval offensive brought against me.

single continent fractals allow for some interesting geography imo.

The vanilla AI is generally sucky at naval invasions, that's been transferred to FfH.

From all the indications I've seen, Blake has made sure it is. Another reason BtS will be a boon to FfH.

In my last game they built a ship. I never checked in the WorldBuilder to see if they had used it to carry a settler to new lands.

(Sorry if some errors are in this text, I am a french canadian, so English is my second language)

I was away from civ 4 for a while, and from Fall from Heaven too. I downloaded the last version and dive into a goody game, with Capria of the Bannor. During this game, Hyborem actually succeed to become quite powerful! It was on a continent map, small, 4 civ (including me) and normal sea level. My computer is not strong enough to allow large map size…

I was stuck with Orthus and Acheron from early in the game, crippling my empire and preventing me to grow much. Acheron left me with almost only tundras and desert has a terrain! I had only 2 good cities, one medium city and 2 very poor cities. The continent was not so large (3 cities large max!) and the red dragon was sitting right in the middle of it.

I made contact with Perpentach also early. He was on the other side of our friend Acheron. Wanting to play a goody game, I rushed the order and he rushed the veil. As soon as Hyborem entered this world, my life became a nightmare! The devil spawned just south east of the barbarian capitol, near my fourth city. The continent was drawn into an intense war almost immediately. Altough many demons were killed by the dragon, I could feel a lot of pressure from the devil lord and his insane puppet. The infernals build 3 more cities on the continent… The lava kept flowing, blocking my armies and making the whole map so beautifully dark…

I counter attack with… a settler! And a great Engineer… A city was build, east of Acheron, close to Dis, the hell capital. And boom! A door opened to the heaven, letting Basium in! The war became so intense; it was a really great game. Although Basium city was squeezed between the barbarians, me and hyborem, for each dying warrior, and angel would pop-up, turning the tide of battle! Basium managed to get a successful city in the tundra in the north of the continent also.

To shorten this story, this was a great and intense game. We managed to drive the Achen Veil out of the game, by killing Perpentach and Hyborem. Acheron was dealt with at the same time. Then, my eyes turned on the Luchuirp continents, were news of a fifth altar was being built… :nuke:

Just wanted to add: This version of Fall from Heaven is so damn good! I love it! But Hyborem did not build a ship though...

Also, that's far better English than many people for whom it IS their first language. See, I'm not even sure if that sentence was grammatically correct. Or if that's how you spell grammatically.

Well, that sentence was not grammatically correct. (grammatically was spelled correctly) It lacked parallelism; you are saying that the English was better than the people who speak that English as a first language.

You're right - I knew there was something wrong with it, but it was too late at night to bother sorting it out :P
