Got it. Heh, my download took about 5 minutes as well. Ah Fridays, I can go to class completely sleep deprived right?

On the CTD issue, shouldn't this be a completely new build and therefore not have patches for it?

Oh, I was unclear on that. I meant I am re-installing vanilla Civ4 completely, and patching it. So everything is fresh. As far as I know, this is a new build.
 
I am currently in a game with the exact same setup that cause my CTD, but havn't experienced any issues yet (after re-installing Civ 4 fresh). But I don't really have any knowledge of how Civ 4 loads mods, so I can't say if that is actually the reason why it's stable so far.
 
Alright; I re-loaded the mod, deleted my custom assets, and loaded it by going through vanilla Civ instead of using the shortcut. Any or none of these may have had any impact, though.

Edit: I also used "Play Now" instead of "Custom Game."
 
Delete the CustomAssets folder in My Documents\My Games\Civilization. Back up if you want.

i can't wait the download finishes. still 20 minutes.

My game freezes up after starting the game (initializing phase), no CTD though. Will try to reboot and delete custom assets...

The problem was, I was trying to use FFH_Lakes, which does not work with FIRE. Everything is fine now ... :D
 
I just finished my very first Fire game.. Very quick. Standard, quick, pangea, prince difficulty, and Sheaim as my race with random opponents and aggresive Ai. About 60 turns into it the Khazad founded Runes of Kilmorph and declared war on me. I faught them off for a good 40 years trying to rush Ashen Veil and when I finally awaken Hyborem I decide to keep playing Sheaim and hope he helps me out... I fight Khazad alone for another 40 years roughly before my couple Adepts and legions of warrios finally succumb to the Soldiers of Kilmorph while Hyborem all along happily sits around and declares war on nobody :sad: . I expected him to be a little bit more aggressive, but it still was a very pleasing sight seeing him pop up a city beside my borders.
