First "serious" video editing attempt. How can it be better?

This is a first "serious" video editing attempt. It's a Top 50 singles video. How can it be made better?

The transitions are very abrupt, often sounding like you've cut the singer off in mid-note, and with a somewhat disorienting half-moment of silence before the next clip starts. I would try to end each clip at a more natural pause in the vocal, and gaplessly move to the next if possible.
