Well ever since I did this fix I've been completely bug free for a solid 6 hours of play stressing the game in every way imaginable (reloading, entering/exiting world builder, going through ages, etc
)
Please note: This fix will probably only work if you are having COMPLETE HARD LOCKS. Hard locking is complete system lockup; you'll get a frozen screen, the mouse will not move, your keyboard will not respond, and your sound may or may not endless loop. The only resolution is powering the system on and off. If you are getting graphic corruption, blue screens, or crash to desktop this MAY OR MAY NOT work for you.
I thought I had every driver up to date, my Marvell Yukon integrated Ethernet controller had been updated some time ago through windowsupdate.com
However, I recently was browsing Marvell's website and noticed they had an upgraded driver at: http://www.marvell.com/drivers/driverDisplay.do?dId=116&pId=3
I loaded this driver, rebooted and ever since then I've had no hard locks in Civ4 or the only other game to have this problem, World of Warcraft.
This driver is ONLY for people who use the gigabit Yukon integrated network device in their motherboard. If you dont have a Yukon integrated Ethernet device this wont help you, sorry
