 Nice one. Long live flak!

Anyone know how mobile SAMs compare to flak? Whats the % chance for 4 SAMs to kill a bomber?

Well mobile SAM have double the AA defense, i.e 4.
Chance for 1 SAM to shoot down a bomber= .4/2.4 =1/6 or 16.67%.

If I didn't screw up my stats, probability of 4 SAM shooting down a bomber should be around 51.77%.

I mainly use mobile sams as escorts. Also its nice to have some in

the interior for military police, and with rails you can move them

to a spot under constant bombardment.

In my games the city govenors always produce mobile sams. its

thier build preference. when I have immense empires I try to

manage production but i always wind up with too many sams. Its

really annoying. Does anyone knoe why, or is it that stupid A.I.

thing again.

I didn't realize they named a unit after me! I'm honored...

Maybe those governors think the SAMs will be left to protect their cities? You can tell the govs to always repeat the last unit built, so they won't stop building tanks to build flak. It's easier to have too many flak guns than too many bombers, tanks or infantry, but you're right the governors love it.

One thing you missed. If you have no oil those flak come in REAL handy. I just conceded a game where oil was on one continent only, and I couldn't get there. I used flaks to hold them off until I got uranium... Only location for it was on that same continent :(
