I never have liked the damned bowl-and-chopsticks rice resource. And that blue beanie looking thingy with the leaves sticking out of the top isn't any better. So I started experimenting with cut and paste to see if I could make a rice resource that was a little more to my liking and that was easier to locate in the jungle. I wasn't sure what might look good in-game, so I made several alternatives to give myself some options.

I am graphically challenged, and this is the first time I have ever used Microsoft Photo Editor to cut and paste. I took all of the images from the various resource compilations. I do not know anything about layering or using the pallete to change colors. This is just raw cut and paste.

Row 1 -- Rice
Row 2 -- Cereal grains -- wheat, einkorn, millet, teff, amaranth, quinoa, etc.
Row 3 -- More alternatives for cereal grains
Row 4 -- Corn
Row 5 -- Olives and cotton
Row 6 -- Wine Grapes and cotton
Row 7 -- Cotton, silk, and sheep

The various resources are compatible with Rhye's terrain mod. I don't know if there might be some capatibility issues with the vanilla civ terrain or with other terrain mods.

I hope one or two of these are of some use to y'all.

P.S. I really am proud of the sheep resource. In-game it looks quite realistic and the sheep appear to be grazing on the hills. Most of the available animal resources are way too cartoony looking for my taste. Eventually, I would like to make more realistic resources for all of the various animal resources I use.

I'd be interested in seeing a few screenshots. Care to oblige? :)

Well, you could have said something about borrowing the gfx from me... :dubious:

Mrtn,

The original sheep image is from you? Sorry, but I had so many different compilations from various people that I finally put them all together in one huge compilation of my own. I did not keep track of who did what because I never imagined that I would share anything I might create with others.

I just checked my original post ... I thought I had told everyone that none of the images were my original creations. My bad. And I think I more stole the sheep image than borrowed ...

To clear up any misconceptions, when I say I am proud of the sheep resource, what I mean is that I am proud that somehow, on my own, I was able to fumble around with Microsoft Photo Editor and figure out how to cut and paste and use "mirror" to create the current resource.

I'm sorry if I inadvertently left anyone with the misconception that I generated any of the original images that I used to cut and paste into the current resources.

Rufus,

As I stated in post 5, I jumbled everything into one compilation and did not keep track of who did what. No offense meant. Thanks for whatever I "took".

Well, it's back to stealing things in the dead of night and keeping it private for me. :p

for each other these resourses im guessing i can only choose to use one of them?
