I'm getting a new computer! It will have:

Geforce 7050

Intel Duo 2 core

2 gig RAM

450w ps

based on these spec., do you think I could run medieval II on high or medium graphics with a decent frame rate? I tend to ignore minimum an maximum requirements because they LIES:crazyeye:.

how many GHZ on the duo core?

I would go with dedicated graphics, especially if you want to play any more graphically intensive games. Other than that it looks fine.

I highly recommend getting a new Video Card :
With a 9400 you can have full sized battles on medium-high settings

With a 9600 you should be able to have everything on high (I do with mine anyway and get great fram rates) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...048 106792522 1067937365&name=GeForce 9600 GT

I wouldn't go higher than a 9600 with a power supply that size any way.

Good luck!

Yeah - the 7050 is mediocre at best. It'll run M2TW, but don't expect medium or high, at least without significantly lowering the resolution. 8500/8600/9400/9600 will serve it well.

The CPU speed also is a factor with M2TW - not the graphics but how fast the AI runs and how many units you can have on the battlefield before you start getting slowdown from the CPU (if you've ever fought the Timurids in field battles you'll know what I mean). Any CPU will do, but the faster the better for M2TW - try for at least 2.4 GHz.

As for the stated requirements - the recommended ones are fairly arbitrary, but the minimum ones are usually pretty accurate. You can skate by once in awhile, but it's nothing to count on.

Depends on the quality of the PSU.

If the brand is Core 2 Duo, it should be fine. If it is Pentium Dual-Core, there may be a problem if it has a low clock.

Not the specs, the quality. A good quality PSU could run a 4850. A trash PSU won't. Just because a PSU has the same wattage doesn't mean it is the same.

That's true.

If he bought it himself it is probably pretty good with all of the reviews and stuff you can read online before buying. Otherwise I would get some info on the PSU online.

Well, the PSU came with the case. I didn't buy it separately. But it seems to be good quality:confused: (I have never heard of bad and good quality PSU).
O yes, the cpu is 2.66GHz.

There's a demo you could try to see how performance is before buying the whole game (I'm guessing you don't have the game yet since you seem to already have the computer?). If it's like the Rome: Total War demo, there will only be battles (and no campaign) in the demo, but if battle performance is adequate for you, campaign performance should be too - especially with that processor.

Well, the computer isn't exactly up and running yet. As a matter of fact I have been have a lot of "service" issues lately. But I just kinda wanted an estimate of how smoothly I could run the game. I do however eventually plan on upgrading to a 9800.

Which one, GT, GTX, GTX+? (or less likely the Radeon 9800?)

The GT 9800. I'm positive it will run medieval 2 on high very smoothly.

After reading the reviews. I would recommend a Radeon HD 4830 over the 9800GT. The 4830 performs slightly better for the same price.
Thanks, I will take that into consideration.

Lol ATI cards, they always seem to have more issues with games. I ran the game fine on a 7900GT and have an 8800GT which I can run high settings on every game I have (I also have a Q6600 processor so that helps, a LOT.)

I know this is off-topic, but would some be willing to post a screenshot of medieval 2 on low graphics (default res)? I would be very grateful!
