Quick questinon:

In a captured city (after the resistance is over) if there are 4 foreigners left as citizens and I take 4 of my workers and make them citizens (just as an example) and then I rush 1 worker while I'm still in depotism, will the worker and the sacrificed citizens all be foreigners? Or will some of my own national citizens be taken from the city? I've never really seen this documented. I ran one test but I didn't feel like it was a significant statistical test. Just curious.

Thanks.:)

Do not add your workers to the city and then rush a new worker out.

No offense, but the math invloved in these proposed transactions as way below the level of basic success in a game.

You will have to work out the math for yourself, but the scale of the "bad ideaness factor" here is fairly extreme.

Also, do not use pop points to rush workers. Better to rush a spearman or archer or just starve the people away if you do not want them and then add your own people back in if you really think that is a wise move.

For the most part, workers are more valuable working outside most cities while you are in the early game.

I have a lot of experience expoliting and converting captured cities and I can't think of an example where what you are considering would be a good idea. The factors you need to get a better understanding of would be:

unhappiness penalty due to rushing
shield and pop cost of a worker
shield value of a rushed pop point
worker productivity: foreign vs yours
risk of CF when unhappy and rushed
effectiveness of adding pop points to captured sities with no culture, happiness, or other improvements.

Cracker, yes I agree with you completely. I was just using that as an example so we could have the numbers to discuss it. I guess I wasn't clear about it, but my main questions are the following: Are workers created in cities first foreign nationals and then nationals secondly? And if you do have to pop rush something (anything) in such a city, are foreign nationals the ones sacrificed first and nationals secondly? I'm not sure about those answers and they might affect my decision making in some games and was just curious.

algonacy: nothing solid here but from my experince i believe that your nationals go first. you will only get a foriegn worker if you have all foreign nationals in the city.

Yup! Moreover, we don't have to pay upkeep for that foreign worker. I do this all the time to recently liberated city to reduce foreignners while increasing my slave work force at the same time.:)
