Well I hope this is early enough... 9am in the NL...

First off, change Karakorum
fox03openingkarakorum8cy.jpg

And have a look around... I find some amazing stuff really...

Guangzhou has been deemed Financial, as it has the Taoist shrine. It has a bank, probably inherited from the nice Chinese... But no Grocer and no Market. But it is building a lib? That cannot be, thats 10 :whipped: to the one who ordered that. Start a Market (iirc) and plan the Grocer (or reverse) followed by a Harbor. Note they are scheduled for the next few turns allready...
I also MM to give maximum hammers, instead of working those Coastal tiles... Yeah yeah, Colossus and all, but the market and grocer are more important that a few measly little coins...:crazyeye:

Antium is way way way low on food. Nice idea of the AI to put cottages there, but this is something we need to rectify... Also I dont see the point of production lable here? But I guess thats about all its good for....

And finaly...
Hybrid?? Why? This can easily be either full cottage or full wattermills and workshops... turning it into a specialized city... There is +4 and +3 food from the resources and +2 food from the CC. 4 plains tiles (-4 food), 1 grass hill (-1food) and 1 dessert hill (-2food) leaving us still at +2 food.
We should figure out what we have a bigger use for and replot accoordingly...

Who was flying high :smoke: when taking this from JC?

Its worse than verry bad... IMHO, Anyway we have it now... and it is paying for itselve at the moment twice over even...

A few turns into my set and checking Karakorum every time... We are about to sprout another GP. With a 35% chance of a Prophet and Yay   :bounce: we get the prophet too. He is promptly send to Munich where he builds our Kong Miao (finaly)

We jump from +26@50% to +49@50%. We should make some grocer and stuff in munich... I am currently building Westpoint in Munich...

Meanwhile on the research front we netted Replacable parts as planned and I set research to MT, which we can use if we want to continue our :badcomp: ways...

Our friend Osaka is appearently smoking something as he comes to ask me this 3 times in my turnset..
fox03osaka0rq.jpg

Obviously I say NO each time...

Louis jumps by to ask me if I would want to join him in Hereditary rule.. NO...

1730AD gives somewhat of a scare... As Alex jumpstarts his economy into a GA. I fear for the Taj... But it is appearently a GP indused GA, as I dont get the request to change the build in Munich...
fox03alex4km.jpg

On the otherside of the continent, Osaka is beeing handed his head in a handbasket by Alex... Osaka has chosen unwisely I guess :nono: ... To coin a fraze...
fox03alexvsosaka4xq.jpg

And the resulting culture gap, which will probably be filled by the time the cities get out of revolt...

1740 Loius closes the borders on us, I start upgrading our (2??!!) Knights to Cavalry and start heading some troops south from Old JC country towards French borders. Using the open borders we have with Alex.

That same year, Osaka of all people is building wonders?
[Rant]This is really something that needs to be fixed in the AI... You get beaten to a pulp and build wonders? Units man, you need freaking units not wonders....[/Rant]:wallbash:
So we take the second price of 405 gold on that one... with just 3 turns difference...
fox03spiralminuet4gz.jpg

I turn around with this fearfull moment in my recent memory and invest that gold into the Taj...
fox03taj1at.jpg

Next turn starts our GA, Yay we get the Taj... but Louis beats me to the Hagia... by two freaking turns...
fox03hagia1ja.jpg

This is converted into 458 gold...

We draw a GS from whats its name? Down south... I send it toward Holcomb, but didnt really check what would be a good place. Holcomb can use the extra culture I guess and is a Science city...

While on the subject of GPs we still have a spare Merchant and Artist...

I founded a little town in the wastelands... Wissensee, named after its surroundings... It has some fish and has as specialization Beavers (Bea), but I guess I should be sci...

It has a nice little fishing boat (which I build for nothing  Thanks Grey  ) heading for it (from Rome) I left that Goto...

And I founded Dusseldorf which is going to be a nice production city I think, now that we are close to Biology, Note Its 1 north from where we razed the chinese town ...

Totaly not intresting as it were some builder turns.... but here it is

Note that I too am starting to suffer the CTD... suddenly. I never experienced any crash till this set. I had 3 or 4 while trying to load the original save. And one more on 1735, making me go back to the autosave of 1730...

I think we need to prepare a little for Louis to re-attack us, he allready closed the borders... But thats the next persons headache...

I did leave you a turn of 5,6 or 7 of GA, so have some fun...

Nice going namliaM. I never think about settling new cities in ravaged ruins until some AI settles there and then I regret. I like the new ones

And we finally have the great prophet [party]
Okay I am overdoing it a bit, but I was waiting it for so long

I am also thiking of spitting out some missionaries and starting a temple->cathedral->national epic or temple->national epic->cathedral
in Karakorum (if it is GP Fram indeed) as we still need a shrine

that is damn early for a sunday  . You started the report at 8 AM ? You must be a morning guy

Too bad for the spiral minaret, but I prefer to loose this rather than Taj Mahal.

Who's next ? Bede ? :hmm: Not sure who will be attacking the other

Mine, mine, it's all mine, so got it and play it this afternoon.

Not sure about the MT research, though. CR rifles are another killer unit at this stage of the game.

Also at this stag of the game I won't be planting any cottages as it takes too long for them to mature. Farms, workshops and watermills and lumbermills are the way to go.

@namliaM ... I said Macau for the work boat .... I clearly remember the crabs in Macau does not have a nets in it.

Okay, you are very early in reporting, you get to keep your name the way you like it ... :)

I think the reason why Pisae was kept was to give us a port in the east coast.

Goodjob getting the Taj Mahal ... too bad abt the other two wonders ... but frankly, we need no freaking wonder. Just conquer the world and win already.

Roster, before someone come whining about not having one again:

I kept Pisae as I had already destroyed JC's other city down on the tip and I didn't want to leave the whole area free for another AI to come in and settle the area. If we want domination we need to control as much as possible. It is a crap city site though I do agree. The AI has this habit of building cities that can never grow over size 2 and then developing all the workable spots that are never going to be used.

This one should grow over 2 but it can't work any of the land tiles without stagnating pretty fast.

The who? Well I build 2 so we have 1 for the new city and Mac something... ;)

Yeah I played till 11 pm last night... sitting at the keys again at 9am was a bit much, but had a bussy weekend...

GreyFox said:

I would have razed it and taken a settler 1 (south-)east of the current possition....
@Kikinit, I am like the AI ussually... When I see crappy cities like this, Raze and replace... I have settlers joining the campaign so I am the first there once I do raze that crappy city. Alltho only to be replaced by something a little less crappy...
GreyFox said:

I didnt want to risk losing that too... So I bought it...

Didn't finish last night, late day at the bookstore (salt mines) and another one tonight, will post late tonight (midnight EDT)

Frankfurt(FIN) begins: Frigate

Shanghai and Hamburg should build grenadiers and rifles either alternately or respectively, and throw in a cannon every once in a while. Munich and Berlin should build Cavalry. And the rest of the towns with barracks should get on the military stuff just as soon as the appropriate buildings finish. Tech choice should go down a path that will not commit us to any new buildings or at least not until we have taken Louis and Asoka off the planet.

Sorry to disappoint by not starting a conflagration but I wasn't real comfortable with the mix of troops we had and wanted some rifles and cavalry to round it out.

Alexander remains our bosom buddy and though I checked every opportunity I couldn't get him to close his borders to Louis. Sorry for the lack of pictures (I know this is dull reading without eye candy) Promise to make up for it once the war comes around.

Use the remainder of the GA to get to Railroads and put a few more troops on the border then send the "Go" order.

So I get to Declare? Yippes!

Our relationship with Louis is spiraling down the drain with the signing of defensive pact and the cancelling of deals. He would have declared on us if not for the "I fear their combined military might" factor raising the threshold of declaring war by quite a bit.

Good tactic I must say, usig the defensive pact to deter Louis from bring us into an early war in which we are not fully prepared.

Good tactic for the momement, but I suggest cancelling the DP once we're ready and waiting a few turns to see if Captain Happy Pants will declare on us. I fear war wariness will really hurt this time around.

Maybe throw in a few "arrogant" demands?
