I noticed that when I play an expansionist civ with sedentary barbs I often get a free settler from the first goody hut. Is it just luck or is it really supposed to happen so often?

I tried this even on Deity and got a free settler at the first goody hut. :D

expansionist trait is suppose to get u better stuff from huts. However, getting settlers from huts should not be as common as you are describing so i would credit your settlers to lady luck.

The chance to get settlers on deity is fairly low even with expansionists civs. So you were just plain lucky.
But don't feel too safe, the RNG will come back and give you bad results some time :spear:

It's not just expansionist civs who get a free settler, though they have a better chance of it.

In the link that ybbor provided above these are the requirements for the settler to come out of the goodie hut

Settler:
--Player must not have a settler (active or in production) or any unit with the Settle AI strategy.
--Player must have less cities than (TotalCities / NumActivePlayers).

Then it is based off of the percentage in the table that is provided in that thread. EXP civs don't pop barbs so the chance of everything goes up (significantly in higher levels). EXP civs also use the percentage values from the previous hardness level.

The last settler that I've got was with Babylonians (regent), so not Exp civ.
Interestingly it was goody hut close to my start position so I simply send a worker to see what's inside :D before my capitol expanded at all. So can anyone tell me: is the result of what is in hut also regarding of who enter the village (warrior, scout, worker...)!??

If you have no military AT ALL. no barbs will be popped. This is wasted on EXP civs. But as far as which unit pops the hut, no. See link in above post by ybbor to see all of the percentages and exceptions.

When I play other expansionist civilizations like Incan for an example, my scouts pop out a free settler at the beginning and rarely give me a free city at the wrong time at the wrong place. I'm not sure if we usually pop two free cities from the goody hut based on what map settings and difficulty level we normally play.

you know what this means? it means right before popping a hut micromanage all your cities to not produce settlers ... then switch them back right after popping :king:
