FreeCiv vs. C-Evo

I have had all the Civ3 I can stomach and I am waiting on my new motherboard for Civ5. Which is better, FreeCiv or C-Evo? How close are either of them to Civ2 or Civ3? Any recommended mods?

Never played either, but if Freeciv.net is similar to the non-online version, than I would most likely not enjoy. I hated Freeciv.net, it just felt emotionaless and rushed.

I could be wrong on this but....
FreeCiv is more like Civ1-Civ2 and C-Evo is more like Civ2-Civ3. I think c-evo has some good ai, although I've not really played it.

Played both years ago like in 2005 (havent tryed new 2013 versions ) but only for a while, so i want to know answer also.

Your pc can't handle civ4? It's better than those.
