Freeze while waiting for other civilizations

In my current game, the game will freeze @ 295AD every time while the other civs are doing their turn. The game really doesn't freeze, I can still exit the game or click my adviser tabs, but it will just sit there saying waiting for other civs, while the world cursor spins indefinantly. Any tips? It just pisses me off to spend 2-3 hours in a game only to have it unplayable.
