I would like to hear some comments about this screnshot series that I added to the civ2 screenshot section a long time ago:

Any comments are welcomed!

Hi Thunderfall, excellent comments, Sir!

You should now find a way to have a voice off. It'd be great, right?

Oh, I forgot to say it seems that in real life several countries are as "intelligent" as that clumsy Egyptian IA... No needs to give example. Don't you believe me?

I wonder how real life negotiations would go if one side opened with:

"Though we dream of seeing your civilization in ruins...."

I saw this series just before I signed up. My comments now are the same as my comments then... Thunderfall, you're a pushover! The AI must rub its tiny computerised hands with glee when you negotiate.

I think an interesting thing to note is that your reputation is already "questionable". How many treaties had you broken at this point? Why do you keep getting them to sign more treaties? I assume you ended up breaking this treaty with the Egyptians too?

One more thing. How is it that you can have a questionable rep, but still have two civs that are Receptive??? I usually can't get anybody down to ICY let alone the happy side of neutral, even if I'm at peace, and even if I've given them half their techs!

Oh well. It's still a rather humorous exchange.

DEATH awaits you all...with nasty, big, pointy teeth.

LOL! I've never seen those words(Are they even actual words on the game?)

If the computer did that to me, I'd just get annoyed and attack them.

One of these days I'm going to get around to changing all of the diplomatic text in the game. Then the AI will show me the proper respect. . .

A general answer, not specifically to do with Thunderfall's dialogue...

You can certainly have Receptive with Questionable rep. I had it on GOTM 2 with Dishonourable rep (till I captured Eifel). And I even had Receptive/War under these circumstances!

How? The secret is a massive onslaught. If you have over 100 cities, you've rail-linked to their infrastructure, and you've just taken over 5 of their cities in each of the last three turns, they very quickly switch from Enraged to Receptive. But it means very little. They still hate you. They're just scared they may only have two more turns to live. And all it means in practical terms is that they'll listen to you if you send an emissary and not give to the "idle chatter begone" runaround.
