I speak German, but I hadn't heard the verb übernehmen before. Maybe I should start playing Civ IV in German :).

That situation has happened in some of my games too. But no matter how many times it happens, it just doesn't feel right.

i lolled.
anyway. Lincoln wasn't against slavery to begin with.
we all like to think he was but he really wasn't
his main goal was to preserve the union.
the south split because the several new states in the union didnt adopt slavery and they felt under represented and threatened.
so they left the union. it was only during the war where lincoln's opinion changed, because he needed more soldiers to fight with him.

Holy unbalanced start. Three horses, two cows, and wine within the fat cross, plus 4 other cows and two wheat within easy reach! You should post the first turn savegame -- I'm sure many of us could have fun with that kind of start.

i had an awesome start once, but really weird.
had a 2pigs, 3 corn, iron under the city (it was on a hill), 1 copper in the North-Northwest corner of the Fat Cross, 1 wine, 1 gold, 1 stone, and 1 marble. i had swords rampaging all of my neighbors and wonders cranking out every thirty seconds. had a river cut through the entire thing and branch off into two at the hill my city was on. to the east of the river were most of the production resources, and the west, the food, which was on a desert, so naturally it had floodplains. however, the next city i placed had absolutely nothing.

Oh you don't even know how unbalanced it is.

oh and heres the save its standard marathon Monarch Great Plains with extra civs btw

Considering all the Great Plains starts I have had without any horses whatsoever, (sometimes without oil either, but that was in a different forum. :( ) that's remarkable. Current game (Shaka, Matathon, Huge, 18 Civs) is the best start I've ever had. On the sea corner; Capital on a plains hill with stone; two gold, clams, fish, copper, and two wheat in BFC; nearby city sites with two silver, fish, clams, Iron, horses, marble, and deer. Game is going well. :)

Yea, once I saw an 11 cattle start on great plains. Absolutely incredible.
