Personal experiance. Traded Nationalism for 300-ish gold (the guy, Hauyna, had 1 turn left >.<), next turn, he pops a great Engineer, and rushes the Taj Mahal. I was 8 turns away, so it wouldn't have mattered, but it would have been a real kick in the balls if I was 2 turns away ;)
Yep, live and learn.. I'll be sure to remember that each time someone wants Nationalism. Usually other civ's build wonder's 1-3 turns before one of my cities is finished.

sugarrush!

Well now, I've heard of an axe rush, but this is new.

Alas... sugar is one of the 'non-commerce' calander tiles...

It provides 1 extra food, instead of tons and tons of commerce (like dyes do...)

However, that is a sizable GP Farm... if you play your cards right, you could get 9 sugar in the BFC, 1 sugar just outside, and 1 sugar on the tile itself. Production would be a problem, however. That, and you would have 6 peaks in the BFC >.<

you'd think that it would add 1 production too because they'd be so hyper all the time

Just two little things about GPFarms dudes:
1. GPfarms need big food surplus. 4F tiles aren't great for GPfarms

2. Peaks (or deserts) aren't a problem in a GPfarm usually as the city works its food resources, all other citizens are specs. So no need for 20 available tiles.

Very nice pic tough ;)

Actually, putting a cottage on a sugar tile can be very nice (essentially floodplains without the health penalty).

I thought you needed to get a plantation for the sugar?

IE. Sugared riverside grassland is 2 :food: 2 :commerce:

With plantation, that is 3 :food: 3 :commerce:

With town, that is 2 :food:, 8 :commerce: (depending on your tech status)

Hmm sugar is kind of a lame resource tile yield. After a plantaion it is only 4:food: and 1:commerce: without being by a river. That is pretty much a biology grassland farm at Calender. Next to its related resources (Bananas, spice, dye) it kinda wanes. I would actually reccomend putting a farm or a cottage on a sugar tile and only doing the plantation to grab 1-3 for trade and luxuries.

Oops, sorry >.<

Please disregard my comment...

But I wouldn't mind having lots and lots of food... especially there!! Thats some 10 specilists or so...

This is gonna be a bumpy ride.

Update: Turn 73, the Holy Romans are deaaaad!

Why do I get the feeling I'm going to discover a barb-infested island eventually?

They probably didnt know what to do with their settler for likek 20 turns then killed it from stress disorder. :aargh:
