I do believe my archers want to go for a swim. I hope they brought their water wings.

For those not familiar with the mapfinder included with the HOF mod, it regenerates maps and saves those that meet criteria that you set. When mapfinder saves a map, it also saves a screenshot of it. Attached is a mapfinder generated screen shot with swimming sheep near the top of the screen. I assume the sheep were a ghost from the previously generated map, but I thought it was an odd screenshot none-the-less. (The actual game that had been saved did not have any sheep in the ocean.)

Sorry for the double post, but you have got to check out this start I generated shortly after the last post!

The first screenie is my opening position. There is my Settler and trusty Quechua on a peninsula. Sitting next to me is Mansa's starting stack. I highlighted the stack with my cursor - 4 skirmishers, 2 settlers, 2 workers, 2 scouts (I am playing Deity).

tough start (Medium).JPG

So, I assume Mansa is going to settle in that spot. Only hope is to try to get past before he blocks me in. However, since the tile to the E of my settler is a forest hill, the settler can only move 1. I move both units 1 tile east, and Mansa settles. Of course, this bumps my units to the nearest open tile... right where I started!

tough start 2 (Medium).JPG

 Can't settle here, its within two tiles on Mansa's city. Can't move through his culture zone without DOW... my one Quechua against 4 skirmishers.

OK, so I know what you are thinking... on my first turn, I should have settled in place and made him move. Well, I reloaded from the opening autosave to try that. Here is the outcome. He moved alright... over 1 tile and then blocked me in!

tough start 3 (Medium).JPG

Obviously, this second attempt isn't instant death, but how long do you think it will be before Mansa gets annoyed at our close borders and stomps me? I suppose I could try to Quechua rush him, but with one production tile I will be slow in building Quechua. And his UU (skirmishers) are strength of 4... not 3 like normal archers. I'm thinking they will be a tougher go for the Quechua.

All in all, a snookered start.

The computer didn't even have to think twice on this one. It immediately recommended following up Hollywood with a Jewish Temple.

How did you get to be at war with everybody? Did you do it on purpouse?

I have no screenshot, just an oddity to tell about from my last SP Warlods game. I saw Monty's Caravel in another civ's city, which had only one tile of water, a lake, next to the city, far away from any ocean. How did it get there...?

it got there since boats are built in the city and you have to move them out. If there was a lake next to the city, you can move a ship there.

Problem is a city on a lake can't build ships in the first place, so....

I thought that was Broadway?

"In any great adventure,
that you don't want to lose,
victory depends upon the poeple that you choose.
So, listen, Arthur darling, closely to this news:
We won't succeed on Broadway,
If you don't have any Jews." :D
