Not telling
I think in Civ 4, there should be future technology you can actually use like in "call to power" they had hover infantry and plasma tanks. You could also build colonys in space. I think they should have some post apocalyptic weaponry instead of "Future Tech 1" Like they had in Civ 3.

I think they should add Transcendence as a goal and something like a Science Victory!
Of course, it would require a lot of science bubbles :)

I believe this issue has already been discussed several times. If only someone would provide me with a link...

Yes please :)
Micro-nuclear Fuels cells :scan:
Personal Powered Body Armor :borg:
Trans-continental Bombers
Maybe a few non-military TECHs as well

The thing is if it has effects like ordinary techs, Names, units, buildings, etc. then it is not a true "Future Tech". The "Future Tech" category is for when you have exhausted the designer's imagination+ability to balance. I DO like the fact that they will have actual effects now, but I like those type of effects, and I can see the argument for keeping Civ Real close to current day Techs for its 'Named' techs.

I just think it would be cool to extend your civilization into 2500 AD with somthing furthur than "Integrated Defense"

And what happens when you run out of these techs that give you plasma tanks etc?

The point is, the line has to be drawn somewhere, and you can either draw it at the limit of current technology, go slightly ahead, or maybe a long way ahead.

I would actually like the limit to be at current technology - I barely ever get to the modern age now anyway...

oh, well still, it would be better for those who want future techs for Civ 4 to have a little bit of a future age.

I actually liked the way techs were presented in SMAC. maybe they can take a page out of it and copy some of the techs there... i just wonder if they'll be coming out with smac 2

I hope so. If you like SMAC, please visit firaxis webpage and vote for SMAC 2 as the next thingy that firaxis have to develop.

http://www.firaxis.com/community/polls.php

First question: Which Sid Meier’s game/series (past or present) would you most like to see remade?
Pull down the menu and vote for SMAC 2. Thanks.

I vote for Colonization 2 :D Anydangways, I just like the idea of a future era.

the wierd thing with CTP was when you started having the cities on air and on oceans, things become too cluttered. And it gave a huge advantage to whoever discovers it first. so if you were leading by a stretch, you could leave the opponents in the dust.

@Urederra-> i didn't know there was an option to vote. thanks!

CTP was a good game... CTP 2 sucked though.

Great Idea for Future Techs! (not sarcasm)

(but this topic been discuussed to death, and you are raising the mutant, rotting corpse)

Im sorry :(
