G&K now crashing.

I recently downloaded Gods&Kings off steam, and though the game was running perfectly before (Settings, Huge map but number of civs taken down to 2, 4 CSs, no barbarians.) but after G&K, something weird happened. I started up a game as Byzantium, and it ran fine for the first 50 turns. But then it froze, and I had to restart. So I ran the verify integrity of game cache and disabled game core threading, and started up again. That time, it worked until I pressed new turn. Verify cache, rinse, repeat, freeze upon clicking the confirm beliefs button to found a religion next turn. I tried one more time and that time it froze the very first turn. I am running Windows 7.

Sounds similar to my latest problem as of tonight. I have just regular Civ 5 and its been running with no problems. Tonight, I started a new map (standard size, 2 civs).

It worked fine for 50 turns, then crashed immediately. I started over, and it worked until about turn 35 when it crashed again (I had saved at 25, so I wasn't too bad off). I ran it again from 25 to 35, when it froze and crashed again. So, 50 turns, then 35 turns, then 10 turns. I have no idea what's going on. The only "new" thing I did was set the game on standard sized map (Eastern US) rather than small, which I'd been playing before.

My computer is 2 months old, top of the line (bought specifically to play SW:TOR) with 12 gb of RAM. It works like a dream--until tonight.

I can't come past turn 15 for now.. Crashes to desktop with "Civ V stopped working"-msg. What do you need from the DXDIAG process? The "Save all info" textfile?

edit: I can't load any savegames either.. The music stops and it just freezes. Never happened before G&K.

Just copy the top three sections and paste it here (down through Audio). Thanks much.

Here's mine:

Thanks in advance for your help with this.

Thanks for answering dshirk, but I figured out that it was the old non-English character in User that was the issue.. Weird that they have that problem for every expansion..

I decided to run a test by starting a new campaign (me vs. 5 AI Civs) on a Small map. The game ran fine. It seems like Standard-sized map or larger is my particular problem. Is this a video-card problem?

You could try updating the drivers, they are over a year old.

Here's my dxdiag:

Well, that's late now :D.

The problem is theoretically clear: Your graphics card is utter crap, and it's not supported by the game. Total surprise (again) that it worked on your machine.
Why it doesn't work now is another problem :/.
It's unlikely that updating the drivers will help, because yours are relatively up to date, but it#s the only idea I have (link).

IMO, G&K takes a lot more resources than plain vanilla. Seems to me you are trying to run DirectX 11 on a 10 machine at best. Seeing as how your video is a chipset and not a dedicated graphics card, you may have to lower your settings, and try playing in the directX9 mode instead of 10 and 11.

Same problem - I am now at year 2014 and the game crashes every couple of turns - very frustrating.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you varified local content in steam?

If it's a big map, I'd say it's "normal" and there's nothing which can be done about it :/.

Is this common for everyone? I have the same problem. But the problem arrises always when the save game is kind of old, 516 turns now, and typically on large maps where I have lots of civilizations, and lots of units. But the graphics card is less than a year old, 12 gb ram, and otherwise all the stuff in the comp is good and new. I might play 20 turns without a crash sometimes though, and it always works fine when I reload it, which I think is kind of weird.
