Game always crashing on a certain turn, unable to progress

I'm playing a particular game, and CiV always crashes on turn 79. Luckily I've autosaved it on that turn, but can't get past it.

Rebooted game 3 times, rebooted PC, moved same game from autosaves to normal saved games and retried.

No logical reason. Only a normal sized map, nothing complex goin on that turn. Just keeps happening. i was really enjoying that game too... Now theres no way to progress.

Update - just tried reloading to an earlier save, and replayed last 3 turns. STILL can't get past the turn.

This is typical of CiV, just as you begin to enjoy it, it becomes unplayable.

Problem solved:

Switched to strategic view, then ended the turn.

Not really in the mood to continue now tonight, maybe tomorrow. Very irritable after that great mystery.

I have actually seen this solution before and recommended it to a friend who had a late game crash he could not get past and it worked. Switching to strategic view before the end turn must get past whatever it is that blows up?

Does civ actually crash or does it just hang? I had a certain turn recently that took 7 minutes for the end-turn to get through (regular end turns were 15 seconds). civ would show as 'not responding' but after 7 minutes it came back and moved on to the next turn.

Reproducible crashes like this are very good to get in the hands of the devs, PLEASE send it to 2kgreg or post it here and I'll make sure he gets it. Thanks.
