Hello. I am a long time fan of the Civilization series, but I am having
several problems with their software and I would really appreciate a response from anyone who has some time to help me out. I am running Civilization IV on an IBM T-42 Thinkpad laptop computer, my specs are: XP Professional, Service Pack 1 (Can't yet install 2 for some odd reason), 510 MB of RAM, Intel(R) Pentium(R) processor with 1.70GHz, DirectX 9.0c, ATI Radeon 9600 64 MB. My specs are up to the minimum requirements, and in some areas are better than the reccomended. I am still encountering problems with loading games, and gameplay. Even with the released patch, my games crash constantly , often before I even reach the map to start playing. I have set all graphics to low, and I have set single unit option. It will sometimes work, but never get very far - the farthest being having discovered Hinduism and then crashing on the video. I basically get black screens of death, or black screens with crazy pixelated coloring. My computer cannot think through it, I often have to just kill it, which is not good at all. I would appreciate any help that anyone could offer me. Thank you very much.

Tried a small world, and I was able to play a little bit. The game froze on the discovery of Confusionism. It seems that after certain points, not often related, the game will crash. I wonder if it is related to the Memory loss/leakage that has been talked about. I have read other places that the memory loss in this game will cause crashes from anywhere from 8 minutes to 3 hours. Can anyone offer comments?

I am getting crashes too, more so in late game. I've posted my specifics elsewhere, so I wont do it again. I would like to thik another patch is on the way to fix this, but I havnt heard anything.
It's a great game, I just wish I could play it through to the end.
