Game crashes when crossing ocean.

I just encountered a strange crash. I really like the game I have going and would like to solve the crash so I can finish it. On my current map I ended up starting on a continent all by myself. Once I was finally able to, I sent units across the oceans to both my east and west. However whenever a unit (and I have tried with two different units of different types) crosses a certain longitude to my east, the game crashes. This happens everytime, no matter how many times I reload and I have tried at different latitudes, so it's not just a single bugged hex. Has anyone encountered something similar or have any idea if this is fixable. I assume this particular game is broken, but I thought I'd check.
