Game freezes on exit

I've had this problem since the last patch went in. When I click to exit back to my desktop, the program regularly freezes rather than exiting normally. I then have to kill the program. Any solution to this? It's been an issue for several months now.

I have the same problem. Weird stuff is i can not replicate the error everytime. Especially after long gaming time the game stops responding when i click "Exit to Desktop" button. Kinda a disturbing but get used to it already. I am always running dx12 version just for information.

i just made a bug report for similar, except i cannot kill the program because i cannot bring anything to front like task manager to do so or even close the game in the win 10 alt tab screen. the only way out i have is to shutdown.

someone suggested a workaround in my bug report thread that on windows if you can alt tab try windows key and tab to open a new desktop, switch to that and open task manager and then use it to close the executable. this in windows 10.

otherwise have task manager set to always be on top was another suggestion. i have not had time to play civ vi lately so i havent had chance to try either but i am pretty sure opening another desktop will work, i have done that with skyrim before. i just forgot the key shortcut for it.
