Game freezes when i start a new game.

Ok so, i start the game, it all works fine, i choose leader etc. then i get this whole story from lenard nimoy about the beginning of the world and all that crap, and then the play game button appears. i click it. with graphics on medium or high, however, the game just freezes. I know what some1s gonna say, "run it on low graphics" fine, but i shouldnt have 2!! i have all the recommended specs, i have a pentium 4 2.19 GHz, 768 MB of RAM, and ATI Radeon 9200 128MB, and 10.3 GB of free space. anyone have an idea??

It works now, i moved to Omega Drivers for ATI.
