Game Freezing During Map Scrolling (Geforce 8800 GTS ?)

I have a gts 640 works fine in dx9 all settings high, not super fast but good enough. Running w7 64 bit.

Dx10/11 are epic failures with maybe 5 fps before it crashes at any settings.
Strategic view causes me to crash in either mode.

I think you mean a GTS 460 instead of 640? or did you mean a 8800 GTS with 640 MB? This does make a difference you see...

Another 8800 user here. Game runs better under DX9 but still hard freezes - click this, click that, and the PC freezes and you get obnoxious noise from the speakers until you hard reset.

Civ - where you are the beta tester.

Any solution for this?

I've downloaded Nvidia's latest drivers that specifically mentioned Civilization V, but running in DX10/11 still causes the game to freeze about every 10-15 turns. I really want to play in DX11, besides the crashing the game runs better in this mode and is obviously more aesthetically pleasing.

I have a 8800 GTS 512 with a G92. I run Vista Ultimate 64 bit on a Q9300 with 8 gigs of ram. I always run the game in dx10/11 mode.

I think the game has crashed on me maybe once but no more than two times. I've been playing single player and multiplayer and I think the crash or two I had was in multiplayer. I've played several multi-hundred turn games. I have seen an occasional messed up graphic with horizontal lines through it and the speed at which the graphics are drawn seems slow for this hardware.

Anyway, my point is that I have similar hardware and I've really not had crashing problems much at all. I know this is not very useful to those who are having problems.

If it will help, I will go and try to dig up my video driver version. I've not upgraded them in many months, definitely not since I've installed Civ5.
