I am playing the same game with a group of friends and we are trying to track how long it takes each of us. Outside of the victory screen, can I tell how much time I have been playing in a game?

I hope someone knows this, becuase I am sure it's in the save file, but I am not sure where to dig it out.

Yeah, I think there are programs in the Utilities subforum that can/will tell you. You could always retire, and it will tell you. Not sure how that would work with MP tho. Or are you all playing the same game single player, and seeing who does best?

I searched through the utilities and did not find anything about the game length in time. I guess we could retire, but doing that frequently would give you an ugly Hall of Fame on your computer.

Any other ideas???? I guess I could write the utility, but I would need to map of the save file..... Any help there either?

Are you sure Ainwood's "seedbeast" can't do that? I know that he said the game is saved in milliseconds, and he's the save file guru....

I'd ask him about it for sure.

You can edit the Hall of Fame and erase all the ugly scores.

Definately retiring is the easiest way to learn the total clock duration of a game. Save the game before you retire so that you can load it back up again and continue later. Downside to this is that it will place an entry in your hall of fame for the retiring action, even if you load the game up later and continue. The score screen shows the total number of turns allowed and elapsed in the game.

Another thought on game length: If you increase the number of turns, will the research be "stretched out" or will you end up with all the latest technology half-way through?
