I installed it from Steam, but when try to start play, it shows play (after selecting the dx12) and then not lauching, drops back to play button in Steam
I am a sad panda now... :(

Same issue - both vulkan + dx12 - Civ VI is fine - all i can think of is the CPU (i7 920) as the GPU is a RTX 3070 however I can't see any instruction set requirements that the the cpu might be missing and every other game works

It could be avx2. Your CPU does not have it and games have started using it in recent years.

When they modified old processors to requirements list it’s minimum intel actually is first avx2 intel architechture (haswell).

That's the only thing I could think of - I was planning to build/get a new PC anyway later this year - guess Civ 7 will have to wait (though looking at the reviews I'm not missing much atm). Thanks

My CPU doesn't have AVX2 and like so many others, Civ VII doesn't run.

No other game has failed to launch on my (admittedly old) setup.

There is a ticket with Firaxis, hopefully a workaround is possible.
