Game Session 1 coordination

My vote is to settle in place and start a warrior. As soon as growth to size 2 happens switch to a worker. Since there is plenty of forests one forest chop to rush a settler after the warrior is complete could be in order since forests tend to spread and the tile that was chopped could re-grow.

Dubious? I gather you're new to the online Civ community... Here's a link.

Where is this "analysis" you speak of, or is that just a personal impression of yours?

Don't remember exactly which thread - saw it, stored it in memory, moved on. It's also based on personal experience.

After a garrison and explorer (or two) would you recommend a worker next, or straight to a settler?
This one is a toughy, Right now we have limited orders for our workers so I believe we should build a settler first and then a worker.

settler first!!!! I once started near Peter of Russia and was able to get a worker out then still get my settler out before he did and my worker started about the same time as his settler.

Settlers take a long time to build... you need some infra first

In that case, it's anything but convincing to me. How can you have a "personal experience" at all if you had already made up your mind from the start? Have you ever tried to play a single game with heavy chop-rushing? Have you ever tried to play a single game with moderate chop-rushing?

Tried it, didn't like the results. The math is clear that at best it's a wash, and under some conditions chopping will be worse. In this particular case, the plots are definitely worth more as forests than they are as wood. I don't expect to convince you because your mind is made up the other way. On the plus side, I don't have to convince you because it doesn't seem to be your decision.

That poll might need to be redone since there is not an Other item. I noted in that thread the reason why I needed that option. Nothing is a silly option

There is no "other" option available, because there is no other things you can build.

but there ARE other options. I've mentioned it here somewhere before. are we going to have another vote to decide whether to switch the warrior build if it wins?

Are you sure that'll pay off? Workers (and settlers) stop city growth, you know.

BTW, where should the warrior move? My vote is NW along the hills.

NW is fine with me. Another suggestion is to move away from the apparent coast to the SW. no new land will be discovered until turn 2 either way (the city will bust the same fog as the warrior moving to the NW).

This is a decision that needs to be made according to the situation. Settling will reveal more tiles, and maybe there would be some subject of interest - like a Hut, which often comes near where a Settler starts. Otherwise I'd recommend going E to explore the Coast.

I'd suggest you opening a poll regarding this question. On the other hand, the City won't be growing to size 2 within the Game Session 1 (10 turns) anyway, so we'll have time *after* that session to talk about switching production.

And if we find that we're right next to the coast?

I perfer hills...
