Domestic Recommendations: None, really. If the people are happy we are doing fne.
 
Fight a primarily defensive war with the Byzantines for now... We need to fortify ourselves a bit.

Every city Falcon's Haven and East should have a defensive unit fortified in it. And at least 2 in cities bordered with the Byzantines.

Build as many Cavalry as possible while we have saltpeter, and Riflemen once we get Nationalism.

Once we Have a decent stack of Cavalry (6+), you can send them at your discretion to take Nicomedia -> Septum -> Sardica -> Heraclea
 
Yeah, I plan on doing some leaderfishing until we get a decent stack going. As far as defensive units go, I can't defend everything that well and do any science, due to unit support. I'd rather play zone defense in a republic, using mobile offensive units to meet threats. I will try to defend them with what is available and build offensive units and upgrade a few Pikes. All we have to fear is landings, which can be met by Cavalry. I'll do what I can.
