Game slowing down

This might be a known issue but thus far I haven't seen any solutions...

The game runs smoothly on my pc. The specs of my pc are better than the specs that are recommended for the game.

but when I discover most of the world usually during late games industrial-modern times the game slows down considirably. Mostly when i go over area's with lots of cities and during the ending of turns.

Is there any cure?

a) Did you download the new v1.52 patch? This addressed many of the memory/performance issues, so that people who normally couldn't play large maps w/o lagging can now play them.
b) Turn off any antivirus software while you play.
c) Blow out the dust in your processor fan with a can-o-air.
d) If these don't help, what are the general specs of your computer?

Yes got 1.52

just cleaned my pc, when reinstalling everything so no dust.

I'll try turning off my anti virus software, but not at home right now...

I'll also post my specs when I'm at home tnx anyways...

With regard to anti-virus, this should not matter much for most people, but do note that McAfee is way slower scanning files than say Kaspersky is. (If need be, I can provide a site that shows the speed differences.)

If I'm correct I'm using AGF anti virus software...

but should anti virus matter much for gamespeed?

from the top of my head i can say i have a

2.0 Ghz Amd Athlon CPU 2400+
512 MB ram
ATI 9600 Radeon 512 mb
Win XP

I'm no expert but your comp specs seem to meet the requirements just fine. From reading some of the other posts I found that still not all memory leaks have been fixed. So maybe it's not your fault. Or some extra RAM might make a difference as well. Try reading this post if you haven't already. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=151525
