Short and simple question: epic or marathon, which one is longer or what is the difference between these two?

Marathon is longer. Unit costs are a bit reduced in Marathon, so you tend to have more units on the map, and more time to move them around before they get obsolete.

Epic is 1.5 times standard, marathon 3 times

The math on building things doesn't quite balance to normal, though.

Essentially, you have more time to move units around per era, so units obsolete more slowly. 99 out of 100 times, advantage = human.
