has anyone noticed how the game just stops being fun when you get bombers? It is just about getting as many bombers as you can and then bomb cities until there are no more fortifications and then take the city with your units. with enough bombers, you can probably win by conquest with a warrior.

I now have about 40 bombers and i hate how easy everything becomes, i can punish a civilization far away by destroying all their infrastructure. its really annoying, click b and then click road, click b and then click city. what do u guys think?

I don't tend to bomb cities. I don't like to destroy the infrastructure. I'd rather it be there when I take the city.

I also don't tend to bomb the squares surrounding cities. I really don't see why the AI does that (or destroys improvements by any means). I haven't seen much of any effect on the city itself (major effect, anyway), and all that terrain just has to be rebuilt after I take the city.

I will disconnect my enemies resources and/or luxuries from time to time, especially if we are even strength, or he is stronger then me. The AI is generally slow to re-connect, so this can give you an advantage. I don't think I've ever destroyed a mine or irrigation.

If it's not fun, then just edit the bombers to make them less powerful. Maybe take away lethal land bombardment.

True, bombers are overpowering, and raising difficulty level really doesn't help that.

Learn how to stay alive with a nicehandful of cities until bombers are avialable and the problem with bombers being über-powerful in the hands of the human player still exists. AFAIK, modding is the only way of fixing the problem, unless you win all your Sid games before bombers show up

Well i think on higher difficulty the opposing AI's will have more techs, more units and more ways to combat his Bombers than on the lower difficulty, therefore i think that in a way raising the difficulty would help, of course, modding would do the trick as well if thats what you want to do.

In real history, bombers have proved both to be devastating against troops in the open, and to have little efficiency at crippling an empire by destroying infrastructure. During WW2, for instance, in almost 2 years of massive bombardment, the US and English air forces only destroyed about 20% of Germany's productivity. The Nazi Reich reached its peak industrial power as late as october 1944!

I'd rather edit the rules and remove lethal bomb.
