Game Tries to Quit on Me

I've had this problem for a few months now where every so often, the game will try to quit when I'm in the middle of negotiating some deal. Until today, it's just made for an annoyance, the game has never actually quit, it just interrupted my negotiating process. But, today, it managed to try to quit on me interturn and I didn't manage to renew my deal for silks, and now some other AIs have it. I'm playing this game for the HoF, so I can't back and reload on it. Any ideas on how to prevent the computer from trying to quit?

I do have the CDs and I'm running Windows 8.

By quit, do you mean crash or the quit prompt appears and something selects the confirmation by itself?

It never actually selects it, it just prompts me. It does kick me out of the trade negotiation screen though.

Alright, so I just had that happen, and it keeps on buzzing over and over as if it keeps prompting that quit screen, I just can't see things change. When I tap the 'alt' button, it stops buzzing.

It may sound silly, but have you checked or swapped out your keyboard?

Maybe your ESC-key is malfunction.

No, I haven't.
