game will not reinstall--cyclic redundacy check

am very frustrated. Installed it, uninstalled it, want to reinstall it heres what happens.

-I put in disc 1, install shield auto play happens, follow
-it asks for disc 2
-put disc 2 in

blue progress bar goes normal until very end and then it stops and a popup comes up and says:

FEATURE TRANSFER ERROR

Componet: Civ4 Componet
File:E:/data3.cab
Error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

I have winXP, it installed fine the first time

Please help me on this, I haven't the slightest idea as to what

well, if I dont figure this out soon I am just going to sell it or give in to my rage and beat the crap out of it

oh well screw it, Im selling it, this game has way to many technical probs, just not worth the fuss, going back to civ3

Looks like another defective disk, take it back and get another copy or just take it back and get a refund.

I fixed it whooo hooo!!!! Its amazing how much about computers you can learn in a few days.

Well, i have the same CRC problem as you guys, and have been reading on the net how to fix the stupid problem. As far as i have seen, there is only two solutions which have worked for other people.

1. Return the disc to the shop and get a new one

2. insert CD in another PC in the network, copy the damaged file to that pc, and then transfer it to the main computer (where you want to play), and finally copy all files from the damaged CD exept the damaged original file, paste them in a folder named as the cd, paste also the copy of the damaged file which you transferred from the other computer in the same folder. And finally when installing and the program asks you for the CD referate to that folder.

This is only a solution to a bad CD/DVD reader, havent even tried it myself!
