Game won't start!

HI, I just bought this game for Christmas...what a present! Anyways, I"ve downloaded the 1.52 patch, I've installed the Direct X included with the Game, I've updated my Intel video card (Intel 82810e) and this is what I get when I load up:

Initialize Renderer failed. Check DirectX Installation, Latest Graphics Drivers and Graphics Settings Parameters:
-width = 1024
-height = 768
-flags = 0xc
-hwnd = 0xa03dc
-adaptrid = 0
-deviceid = 3
Error:Creation failed: Could not match desired fullscreen mode

I've been searching the threads for about an hour, and I fould one that was similar, but with no result. Do I need to bring this game back to the store?

You don't have a video card. You have an Intel chip integrated into your motherboard. Civ 4, like most games, doesn't support Intel inegrated graphics. That's your problem, you need to buy a real graphics card. If you provide more info on your system (run dxdiag) I could give you a recommendation.
