I try to download it all night...But .....40%......
I think if Kael could provide a HTTP or a FTP download address. We can download ffh much more faster....
It's just a suggestion...Thank you...

Kael already gave his time and energy to create the mod, and now you're asking him to pay up (for the hosting) so you can download the mod faster? ;)

If you had it up all night it is probably on your end, not gamefloods, there have been several comments about gamefood in the past, but none of then involving it going as slow as you describe.

Do you have dial up? FFHII is a large mode for 56K.

Gameflood is at least 5 times slower than the previous (FREE) host, I think 3D Downloads it was called, so if we could get back with that...

I can typically get the full mod in about 15 minutes, so I don't know what you guys are complaining about. Most likely it's something on your side that is the cause for slow downs.

I think most people have found GF to be faster than the previous site, although for a few people it has been slower. If there is only GF to download from, maybe GFGuy would have insight into why a few people find it so slow.

Mhh, i'm wondering, would a torrent be a good idea? I'm not sure, maybe there isn't enough people downloading the mod at a given time to keep a torrent alive.
Is it possible to know how many people d/l the mod each day? I could probably start a torrent, but i can't keep my computer on 24/24h.

Well, I do not know how fast is Gameflood, because I can not even download the mod.

I have tried anything: Firefox, Explorer, Install files, Download, Play now, Direct download, sign in the web... but nothing seems to work.

Could anyone know what's wrong?

Thanks.

Good morning!

Looking into it now!

:)

Quick edit:

Hi MagisterCultuum! You actually are never required to use our download manager; that's just a convenience we offer. :) Anyone can change their preference by going to www.gameflood.com/manager at any time. More info about using & troubleshooting any issues with our manager is outlined in the forum thread I linked in my Sig. Thanks!

I beleive the difference you will find in download speeds is dependent on location. Specifically european players may find gameflood significantly slower than american players because GameFlood doesn't have a mirror in Europe.

Thats just my speculation, Nathan would know for sure.

Yeah I was about to say the same thing... but saying that it's a problem on my end is a bit harsh, I have 6 Mbit download and with 3D Downloads I would avg a 230 KB/s but with GameFlood I was around about 40 KB/s, that is really a low rate nowadays...

I've done some checking and Kael's response here is pretty much the best summary of the situation. We do not currently have hosting in Europe (though we are definitely working on implementation), so slower DL speeds will happen from time to time on different European networks, and I do apologize for that. We get varied results from different European locations (seems random, but I'm not a network engineer :)).

I do want to note that not everything can be attributed to download speed (Wallander, you should check the FAQ i have linked in my sig and get back to me); if anyone is having any other problems besides just a slow download, please let me know and we'll work it out on a case-by-case basis. You can always reah me via PM here, or on the GameFlood support forums.

Hooray, Monday! :)

I must say i was able to download both the mod and media pack in about 10-15 minutes each, in Belgium (it's in Europe in case somebody don't know), using Firefox with a java script blocking plug-in on a Linux OS. From that i think i can say the GF downloads are pretty friendly to any existing browser/OS combination.
I have a fast connection, this can probably help me.

Kael, do you think a torrent would be viable as an alternate download? I really don't have any idea how many people download the mod each day, and a good number of daily downloads is required to keep a torrent alive.

From the Netherlands (neighbour of belgium) I dont have really problems downloading it. Well not as quick as my Belgian counterpart. I have a medium....ehm... speed/capacity for internet (sorry english can be difficult) and not using anything special and it took me for both (mod and media) in total an hour I think. 3D might have been a bit quicker but not a lot i think.

Torrents... please dont, thats something that wont work for me

I think Kael objects to torrents on principle. Although I may remember wrong.
