gamespy issue

hello, i am having trouble with the multiplayer menu in the game. everything else works perfectly, except when i try to create a new gamespy account in the multiplayer screen it freezes up my computer real bad, as soon as i click the create account button it freezes, i can still move the mouse but no response to clicks. i have to then unplug the computer . i have the new patch and everything, tried closing down other programs/restarting and such but to no avail. Any solutions?

Sounds like I have the same problem as you after installing 1.52.

Was fine prior to installing that update.
Now locks up whenever attempt to go to multiplayer, ie when click on internet multiplayer locks after putting in login details.

Out of interest, can you confirm even if you arent accessing from LAN, do you get same error if you try to access LAN game menu like I do?

However nobody has posted any replies on that thread yet although posted a while ago. You could keep check both threads for replies.
Hope you have better luck than I have getting this resolved...

Fixed my problem, it was with my firewall software which changed settings after downloaded patch for 1.52. I found this by going through civ menu to check for updates, came back with message no updates required but firewall software brought up message application changed since installation only granted outbound access. Changed to server access for civ and now works fine...
Using Mcaffee Viruscan Security centre, cant remember exact software name as posting this message from work not home.
Check out your firewall software see if thats causing your problem. Why should completly lock machine rather than bring up error message dont know, another civ quirk I suppose.
