Gamespy Problem

For some reason I cannot connect to Gamespy in CIV IV to play an online game. When I try and use my login name it says invalid login. WHen I try and create a new one, it says cannot connect to server. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I thought it was a problem with my firewall, but my friend was able to connect. And he is on the same network, behind the same firewall (I use a hardware firewall) and I cannot get any kind of connection. I went to gamespy's website and verified that my login information was correct. So if anyone has an idea please let me know.
