They seem a tad too situational, but quite an interesting take.

    I really appreciate these videos.

A nice design, if a bit situational like Siptah mentions.

They have some of my favorite architectural elements in the DLC

I don’t mind the situational-ness, I think there’s room in the game for a smattering of civs that lean directly into one terrain type or another. The Khmer will likely get knocked down to that level since they’re still pretty busted.

Agreed. Not every culture should be niche, but there should be niche cultures that can be leveraged to help you out in specific situations, like trying to grow your population in the desert.

I am actually happy with how they designs those new civs, I was affraid that they would just be generic cultures like most of the basegame with the whole promise of filling in places where didn't have a culture yet. But I am actually happy to see got more unique gameplay possibilities.

I think their niche is exciting because so far sterile terrain has mostly been boosted by modded cultures, as I see it. For example, get largely sterile terrain with a river (like TSL Indus Valley) and the Canal Network only goes so far, and mostly on river tiles at that. Of course, Garamantes won't help with the Ancient Era but could improve early game expansion opportunities.

The art is very evocative, especially the Foggara. I do hope a Qanat district (infrastructure?) will be more broadly available at some point via a Sui Generis style mod.

From an outsider's perspective (I've yet to try Humankind myself, but hope to when I find the time), I really appreciate the shift in design philosophy with this DLC, prevalent in the Garamantes especially. I was a little disappointed by the overall genericness of most of the base-game cultures with their simpler, non-specific traits, but it seems like their approach here is to make the designs more culture-specific in the DLCs, which I can understand. They established a decently diverse and well-balanced (in terms of culture affinity) pool of default cultures so they could create more niche and specialized ones later on.

As someone who owes a lot of their love towards the Civ franchise to the historical background of Civ abilities, keep it up! :goodjob:
